Hubpages is one site I have signed up for, but never really used. I had a friend do a guest blog so that you guys can learn about it! Here you go:
My Review of Hubpages
As a writer, or really any profession, how great would it be to earn money without having to actively do something to get it? Well, with
Hubpages you have this ability. While you do have to do the work up front to write the articles and post them on the site, once that is done, you get to sit back and watch it add up. Ahhh.. if only it were that easy to rake in the money!
There are a few things you want to know when you start with Hubpages as they can be confusing.
Article Score:
This has to do with your article and how it is performing. I do not know all the details, and I’m not sure anyone does, but the more traffic, comments and other elements that your article gets, the higher the score. Scores start at 50 when you publish the hub and they can go up and down. You can also see an average of your article scores.
Author Score:
You also get a score as an author. Again, I do not know the details but it is related to your hubs, how popular they are, and possibly how many comments and views you have. Mine tends to stay in the 70’s somewhere which makes me happy. The highest you can have is 100.
The Good:
- Multiple methods of income – You can use your Amazon Affiliate Account, Ebay (you have to sign-up through Hubpages for the affiliate program) and there is the Hubpages Advertising program.
- You can write about whatever you want. If you look at my profile –
Sharon’s Hubpages – you will see a wide variety of different topics.
- You can link back to other sites within your hubs – other hubs, other writing sites, your choice.
- There are a variety of Awards that you can get when you publish hubs – I just received my 50 Hub award and I have others for having 1000 views, being a member over a year and other items. They don’t necessarily do anything for you, but they are kind of fun to see.
- You can see what hubs are popular and which ones are not.
- Google Analytics can be hooked up to your account so you can do more in depth investigation into traffic.
- Forums where you can chat with other Hubbers to learn how to earn more on the site, how to be more successful with Hubpages or just to chat about whatever you want.
The Bad:
- You don’t make money unless your hubs get traffic or people click on your products and then purchase
- Cannot post links that are affiliate links within your blogs
- Advertising your hubs can be a lot of work
- Payout for the Advertising program is $50, I believe, which can take quite a while to make depending on your articles and if you have optimized them for keywords and SEO
- You can see where the traffic came from, but not what terms they used.
