Starting as a Writer at Home

When I decided to start looking for work at home jobs, I tried everything and it was hard to find a job. Once I discovered the world of writing, I knew this was what I wanted to do for sure. It was hard to break into and decide where to even start with this venture. I found a forum of wonderful women who helped me. I want to share with you two articles I have written to help you start if you are interested in working from home. Check out Working at Home as a Writer Guide to Getting Started and Work at Home as a Writer - 10 Legit Places that Hire Writers at Home. Remember that if something wants you to pay to get started it is probably a scam. You should never have to pay to get a job.

  1. I agree. I also think that working at places like Associated Content, Suite101, or Bright Hub where you can create your own content is the best because you don't have to worry about a client's specific instructions until you feel comfortable with writing professionally.

  3. There are a lot out there that think it is easy to get in to and only want to do it so they can work from home. Many do not make it when they are in this frame of mind. You really have to like writing to make it. Great article!

  5. I think part of one's success as a writer depends on the passion they have. I think there are people that can write very straightforward, no fluff pieces of writing like what DMS wants without really enjoying or feeling a passion for writing. But if you're writing articles/stories, whatever that you want to appeal to others, inspire them, etc. then I think passion is necessary because I truly believe people will sense the emptiness in your words if you don't enjoy what you're doing and believe in it.

  8. It takes a while to find the right spot to work from home. One of the things I like about writing is that it can be anything from a supplemental income to a full time income depending on the interests, needs, and commitment of the person engaged in the WAH writing opportunities.
