Great Boss

Guest Blog
Author: Joyce Mccall

My boss told me about clear high speed and it’s actually been really helpful. She saw that I was doing a lot of my bill pay and online banking and stuff at work and obviously that’s not exactly where I’m supposed to be doing it so it was nice when she suggested a cheap way for me to get internet at home so I could stop wasting the company’s dime. She’s actually a really good boss – super compassionate and easy to talk to – and I think that’s why I’ve stayed at this job for so long. I don’t actually love the work but I do love being able to work autonomously and not having to be at my desk for exactly 8 hours a day to get paid. I think it’s important that employers give their minions a certain level of freedom otherwise they’re not able to prove to themselves that they can do the job. They need to be trusted, that instills good work ethic, and my boss is good at that.

Our Pinterest Sensory Magnet Bottle

Last night the kids and I made some really cool magnet sensory bottles that I found on Pinterest. They are fun! You simply tie a magnet to the side and fill it with cut up pipe cleaners. Then you can use the magnet to play with them on the side. The kids love them!

Super Bowl XLVI Commercials

I am not a fan of football. I watch the Super Bowl for the commercial I do admit! I am not super excited about Madonna on the half time show, but the commercials look great! What do you watch for? Here are a few commercial previews!

Superpoints Network

I have recently started doing the Superpoints Network. It is a great way to earn Amazon gift cards! You simply get an email each day where you click a button for points. You can also go to their website and click a button 30 times each day to earn points. It is fun and easy! It takes less than 5 minutes a day and I am doing well with it so far!

You can also earn on referrals. If you would like to join, please give me your e-mail address and I will send you an invite. Let's earn free Amazon money together.

Emily Maynard as 'The Bachelorette' for 2012

Okay so as you all know, I do a lot of writing on reality TV. I would love to hear your opinions on Emily Maynard as the new Bachelorette. I am afraid that people don't care about her anymore because she was on the show so long ago! What do you think?

If you want to see Chris Harrison announce her on the show, you can check out this article.

Chitika Ads

Many people use Google and other ads to make money on their blogs. They earn money when people click the ads or when they simply get enough page views.

Another site that you can use for ads is called Chitika. I have a few ads from them at the bottom of my page and I am considering using them a bit more. One thing that is great about this site it that the payout is lower than Google so you can get your money after just earning $10. They also have a referral program. Do any of you use Chitika for ads? If so, do you like them?

If you decide to sign up with them, please use the banner below as a referral.

Top Web Hosting Sites

I have been considering getting my own web hosting to do a different style of blog. I have heard of several different places such as Godaddy to do this on, but not sure what way to go with it. Today I found an article about top web hosts. These provide Joomla with the hosting, but I am not even sure I would need something like that with it.

Does anyone have any advice on who they use? Who do you like for web hosting?

Review of Hubpages: A Guest Blog

Hubpages is one site I have signed up for, but never really used. I had a friend do a guest blog so that you guys can learn about it! Here you go:

My Review of Hubpages

As a writer, or really any profession, how great would it be to earn money without having to actively do something to get it? Well, with Hubpages you have this ability. While you do have to do the work up front to write the articles and post them on the site, once that is done, you get to sit back and watch it add up. Ahhh.. if only it were that easy to rake in the money!

There are a few things you want to know when you start with Hubpages as they can be confusing.

Article Score:

This has to do with your article and how it is performing. I do not know all the details, and I’m not sure anyone does, but the more traffic, comments and other elements that your article gets, the higher the score. Scores start at 50 when you publish the hub and they can go up and down. You can also see an average of your article scores.

Author Score:

You also get a score as an author. Again, I do not know the details but it is related to your hubs, how popular they are, and possibly how many comments and views you have. Mine tends to stay in the 70’s somewhere which makes me happy. The highest you can have is 100.

The Good:

- Multiple methods of income – You can use your Amazon Affiliate Account, Ebay (you have to sign-up through Hubpages for the affiliate program) and there is the Hubpages Advertising program.
- You can write about whatever you want. If you look at my profile – Sharon’s Hubpages – you will see a wide variety of different topics.
- You can link back to other sites within your hubs – other hubs, other writing sites, your choice.
- There are a variety of Awards that you can get when you publish hubs – I just received my 50 Hub award and I have others for having 1000 views, being a member over a year and other items. They don’t necessarily do anything for you, but they are kind of fun to see.
- You can see what hubs are popular and which ones are not.
- Google Analytics can be hooked up to your account so you can do more in depth investigation into traffic.
- Forums where you can chat with other Hubbers to learn how to earn more on the site, how to be more successful with Hubpages or just to chat about whatever you want.

The Bad:

- You don’t make money unless your hubs get traffic or people click on your products and then purchase
- Cannot post links that are affiliate links within your blogs
- Advertising your hubs can be a lot of work
- Payout for the Advertising program is $50, I believe, which can take quite a while to make depending on your articles and if you have optimized them for keywords and SEO
- You can see where the traffic came from, but not what terms they used.

Sharon is involved in a variety of different methods on the Internet to make money. Besides writing for a variety of content sites, she has a blog on direct sales (home parties). She has been involved in Direct Sales for over 5 years and enjoys helping others to work and expand their business – both online and offline.

Writing for Factoidz

I have been trying out different revenue sites and Factoidz is one that seems to be working well for me again. They have updated a lot of their features and things are going great there!

You can write articles on anything that you want on this site and they give you a small bonus for each article plus residual pay on everything. You are not required to do a certain amount per month which is great! The bonus is based your views and other things on the site.

It is a fun site that is very easy to learn. Each article has to be 400 words long. They also pay for referrals once they have done 20 articles on the site.

One more thing I love about this site is that they pay you on the 1st of every month no matter how much or little you have made with them! If you don't work that month, you still get your residual earnings.

Here is an example of an article I wrote for them about 'The Bachelor' 2012.
'The Bachelor' 2012 with Ben Flajnik Spoilers

The website is Factoidz, but please use my referral link if you decide to try it out.

Has anyone worked for Suite101?

I am curious to find out if anyone has worked for Suite101 and what they think about them. I have never done work for them, but I am always looking for more residual sites. I would love to hear about your experience or have someone do a guest blog on it. Thanks!

Purex Crystals and Jockey Review

I do work from home as a writer, but I have always loved getting free stuff. I was recently given the opportunity to try out two amazing products and so of course I wanted to do it!

I was sent a bottle of Purex Crystals in the Tropical Splash scent. These are amazing. You use them instead of fabric softener in your wash. If you have a front loading HE machine like mine you just throw them into the washing machine instead of in the normal compartment for fabric softener. It smells great and works amazing. I honestly think I will switch to using it all the time. It is so simple to use and my clothes smell so nice.

They also sent me a Jockey sports bra. This bra features moisture wicking technology and helps keep you dry when you work out. It is great! I have never been so happy with the little amount of sweat I had to deal with from this bra. If you use regular softening products in the wash they can cause the wicking fabric to not continue to work well, but the Purex Crystals are fine to use with it. This makes a great combination!

If you are interested in the sports bra, you can get a 20% off coupon here.

Jockey and Purex provided free samples of their products so I could review them. However, all of the opinions expressed here are my own.

Detangle Baby Doll Hair

Today instead of working, I spent most of the day working on baby doll hair. My daughter's both have a doll they love. They have their own bed and everything. Today a friend of mine shared a way to detangle their hair and it worked! Check it out here.

Now if I could just get this baby oil off my hands :)

Purex UltraPacks Review

I recently received a sample of Purex UltraPacks to try out. These are amazing! Not every detergent will work in my HE machine, but these work fine. You simply throw them in with your laundry and are done!

I love how easy it was to use. You just put in and go. There is no chance of dripping anything or making a mess. My kids can even help by tossing it in for me. My clothes came out clean and it worked great!

'One Tree Hill' Season 8 DVD Catch Up Before New Season

If you have not had a chance to catch up on Season 8 of 'One Tree Hill,' now is the time! Season 9 starts tonight and fans of the show can't wait for it. I know I am excited and have my DVR set already!

The 'OTH' DVD is great because it does have the entire 8th season, but it also has over 2 hours of bonus features. I can't wait to see all of the bloopers from this season. Those should be the best with this group of characters. This is one of the best seasons of the show ever.

For fans of One Tree Hill, the Eighth Season will definitely be one to own! Includes all 22 episodes on 5 discs plus all-new featurettes, commentaries, deleted scenes and gag reel http://bit.ly/w2DhRu!

Do you plan to watch season 9 tonight on the CW?

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote One Tree Hill Season Eight on DVD.

What work do you do from home?

I am pretty much a writer and that is it. I have tried other things for work at home, but none of them held my attention like this one.

I am interested to hear what you do from home. What kind of work do you do? What do you enjoy the most? Share in the comments below!

'One Tree Hill' Season 8 Mixes up the Song 'I Don't Want to Be'

On the show 'One Tree Hill,' they have used the same theme song. The song 'I Don't Want to Be' was originally done by Gavin DeGraw. He did a great job with the song, but many fans enjoyed the way they changed it up for season 8 of the show.

In season 8 of 'OTH,' each week a different artist sang the song. One of my favorites was when Kate Voegele performed the song. I thought it was perfect to have someone that is also on the show singing the song at the start of it. She did a great job and this show has really helped her career. Many people, including myself, did not know of her before the show.

I would have loved to see a great country artist show their take on the song. It would have been fun for Jason Aldean or Lady Antebellum to change it up a bit.

'One Tree Hill' Season 9 is about to premier! You can watch it on the CW Wednesday January 11, 2012 at 7:00 pm CST.

If you missed season 8 of the show, check out the DVDS. You can also get it on Ultraviolet on your computer.
